WHAT IS POWERLIFTING?

Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift. As in the sport of Olympic weightlifting, it involves the athlete attempting a maximal weight single lift of a barbell loaded with weight plates. Powerlifting evolved from a sport known as "odd lifts", which followed the same three-attempt format but used a wider variety of events, akin to strongman competition. Eventually odd lifts became standardized to the current three. As a whole, the sport of powerlifting is growing at both a competitive and recreational level. In fact, it’s not uncommon to see many recreational lifters “train like a powerlifter”, even though they have no aspirations to compete. Whether you’re setting records or brand new to the sport, this page will serve as your all-in-one powerlifting home! In competition, lifts may be performed equipped or un-equipped (typically referred to as 'classic' or 'raw' lifting in the IPF specifically). Equipment in this context refers to a supportive bench shirt or squat/deadlift suit or briefs. In some federations, knee wraps are permitted in the equipped but not un-equipped division; in others, they may be used in both equipped and un-equipped lifting. Weight belts, knee sleeves, wrist wraps and special footwear may also be used, but are not considered when distinguishing equipped from un-equipped lifting.

BENEFITS

Powerlifting, a strength sport where you compete in the squat, bench press and deadlift, allows you to build muscle and burn fat. Powerlifting, like other forms of heavy resistance training, strengthens your skeleton and reduces your risk of injury in other sports and activities. While the rules for the powerlifts remain specific, the general benefits of powerlifting go far beyond conventional lifting. Consult a health care practitioner before beginning any strength training program.

  • Improved Strength
  • Fat Loss
  • Skeletal Health
  • Athletic Ability
  • Slow the Aging Process

We all have different reasons for wanting to get fit, but at least initially, most of us fall under wanting to look the best version of ourselves, being as healthy as possible, and living our best lives. Even absolute beginners have a pretty good idea of what muscles they want to work, so the person they see in the mirror each morning is closer and closer to the person they envision in their heads.

The whole point of the sport is to find out just how strong you really are. The basics are incredibly simple. In competition, a powerlifter stands alone on a platform and tries to lift the heaviest weights he is capable of for a single repetition.  토토사이트웹
